What is the purpose of an ashtray?
An ashtray is a receptacle for tobacco ash from cigarettes and cigars. Smokers leave cigarette or cigar ash and butts in ashtrays.
The word "ashtray" means a compact receptacle or dish designed for the disposal of used cigarettes and cigars, along with their ashes.
Ashtrays are typically made of fire-retardant material such as ceramic, glass, stone, metal (eg. stainless steel, zinc alloy, brass, copper, etc), cement, eco-friendly resin, or heat-resistant plastic.
The most common ashtray is a shallow cylinder with a flat base, to rest on a table.
Nowadays, there are numerous practically-designed creative ashtrays, typically with the following features:
- notches or grooves at the rim, to hold cigarettes and/or a cigar
- a middle pedestal to stub out cigarettes and/or a cigar
- have a lid or cover, to
- prevent odor from leaving the ashtray
- prevent oxygen from flowing in, so a cigarette will go out pretty quickly
- prevent ashes from blowing when there is wind
The above video shows our bestselling ceramic ashtray that has all the above-mentioned features. It has been widely sold in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Smokers have given it plenty of thumbs up!
In addition, there are special outdoor ashtrays, car ashtrays, pocket ashtrays, tube ashtrays, etc. More information will be shared in the near future!
